A short drive from Farmington is the Four Corners monument which is the only place in the country where four states meet; Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. After taking all the obligatory “Look! I’m in four states at once!” photos and browsing through the many Native American jewellery/art stalls we set off for Flagstaff. Arizona and New Mexico has some really amazing scenery making for a wonderful drive through the desert - the Wile E. Cyote and Road Runner-esque rock formations and cliffs are quite spectacular. By complete fluke, we pulled over to take a photo of the scenery and found a post in the ground with a sign that informed us we had stopped at the exact spot where Forrest Gump decided to stop running.
